"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support of Denver Scholarship Foundation."

Letter from our CEO

Dear friends,

What started as a kitchen table conversation among Denver leaders who illuminated the potential of Denver Public Schools' students to enroll in college, has grown into an organization that is leading the way for students to successfully achieve their educational aspirations. Today, that shared vision created by a few has evolved into a collection of 3,533 passionate donors lifting the DSF mission to benefit thousands of deserving and dedicated students.

As I celebrate my one year anniversary with this extraordinary organization, I remain beyond grateful to work alongside our board of directors, staff, Scholars, Alumni, and community partners and supporters like you.

As we look ahead to our next chapter and welcome our largest class of Scholars yet, we are thrilled to continue building a foundation for the economic prosperity of our community with you by our side. DSF remains committed to one goal: paving the way for long-term success for our Scholars, and thus, our community as a whole.

On behalf of DSF, our Scholars, and our Alumni, thank you for making college possible!

Sincerely,

.

Lorii Rabinowitz

Myrna Hernandez

ABRAHAM LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL, 2010 | METROPOLITAN STATE UNIVERSITY OF DENVER, 2014

As a DSF Scholar who now works as a DSF College Advisor, Myrna Hernandez has stood in the shoes of her students.
As a DSF Alumna and now a DSF College Advisor, I am able to see how much DSF cares about students. I see the battles that take place in order to remove barriers standing between students and their successful futures.

Christl Haley

GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, 2015 | UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOULDER, 2020

From watching planes fly above her Green Valley Ranch home to pursuing her bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, Christl Haley did not have to look far for career inspiration—the answer was written in the sky.
The one thing that was standing in my way was the yearly tuition. After receiving the DSF Scholarship, I realized that I had gained so much more than money; I became part of a community that wants to see me succeed and will give me the opportunities to do so.

DSF Scholars who attend the University of Colorado Boulder can choose from one of 12 University of Colorado LEAD Alliance programs, which are a unique set of academic learning communities. These “academic neighborhoods” build camaraderie and promote student success during the first-year and throughout students’ four years through a rich array of cohort experiences, additional scholarships, academic enrichment opportunities, and community-building activities.

College Success

In the 2017-18 school year...

On average, each year our Scholars receive $2 in additional financial aid from our College Partners for every $1 they receive from DSF.

Since 2011, 76% of DSF Scholars have graduated or continue to succeed in college or technical college.

DSF partners with 31 technical and community colleges and universities in Colorado.

Let’s hear it for...

Ge’Swan Swanson

THOMAS JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL, 2017 | UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO DENVER, 2021

Taking his uncle’s words to heart in the face of obstacles, Ge’Swan’s motivation to become the first in his family to graduate from college has carried him to the University of Colorado Denver and beyond.
My uncle always told me, ‘Whatever you become in life, social expectations don’t define who you can become.'
